LEADERSHIP MANAGEMENT

 1.1 LEADERSHIP

BUSINESS LEADERS ARE THE BASIC AND SCARCEST RESOURCES OF ANY BUSINES ENTERPRISE

Peter Drucker

Leadership is an integral part of management. It plays a vital role in managerial operations. If there is any single factor that differentiates between successful and unsuccessful organizations, it could be considered as dynamic and effective leadership. Peter Drucker points out those managers (Business Leaders) are the basic and scarcest resources of any business enterprise. Georgr Terry point out that, “Of every one hundred new business establishments started, approximately 50 or one half out of business within two years. By end of the 5 years, only one third if the original one hundred will still be in business” Perhaps, it would be a valid assumption to state that major cause of these failures would be ineffective leadership.

What is Leadership?

Leadership is not solely a commercial attribute. The leadership function appears in the army, the government, universities, hospitals, and anywhere else where individuals work in groups. Someone must be in charge of that organization.
